Ake Ake Ake Kākahu was inspired by the reclamation of stolen Māori land at Ihumātao in July 2019. As a brand, we advocate for equality and for raising the indigenous voices of the next generation.
Rewi Maniapoto’s proclamation “Ka whawhai tonu mātou, Ake Ake Ake!” is an apt reminder that with heart, conviction and passion, we all, can be change makers. Ake Ake Ake Kākahu is proud to provide clothing that not only looks and feels great but also inspires and empowers a new generation of ‘movers and shakers’ to be the architects of their own future.

Our mission is to grow knowledge of Maori heritage, culture and language. We aim to do this via multiple platforms and by producing quality kākahu that is affordable for our people.
